Modern Garden Design Ideas

There are many styles, in which you can design your garden. Modern style assumes features of the modern architecture, simple lines, little embellishments. Green lawns are quite common as they look neat and low-maintenance as opposed to the complexly designed gardens.

Cottage style gardens look like they’ve never been actually designed. The plants grow as they like, the garden looks exuberant and unrestrained. There, among unruly vegetation you can make a little path to lead you to the house doors. Colonial cottage gardens are, on the other hand, can be restrained and formal with the fence and used to grow vegetables and herbs.

Japanese gardens have very interesting designs having such features as little ponds with bridges, round rocks and bushes, stone lanterns and little stone and tree islands on the bigger ponds. Spanish gardens are often organized around ponds and and water canals. The fruit trees and fragrant plants are arranged around the water. There can also be seen pergolas, arcades and pavilions.

There are many other gardening styles that have their own peculiarities. Sometimes there are stone statues used in the gardens as decoration, and you can use many things to express your style and create your perfect garden. Ponds, fountains, benches, arcades, trellising, plant labyrinths (like in the picture above).

Your garden can be just a beautiful assembly of plants and flowers, bushes and trees as well as they can be an outdoor eating or lounging area. But it also requires at least some planning if you don’t want to end up with untidy and unruly greenery labyrinths instead of the garden. Creating a place smartly set among trees and fragrant flowers you can get a perfect place to escape to after long working hours.
